The Case of the Canterfell Codicil Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Do you like to read mystery books? I do, but I think I read more mystery books when I was a kid. In the past few years, I haven’t read much. In fact, I haven’t read that many different genres. That’s why I decided to read books from different genres and The Case of the Canterfell Codicil came just at the right moment.

This is the perfect mystery book perfect for autumn (for any season really) is so cosy! And I must say, I enjoyed it completely. So let me tell you a little bit about it.

Anthony Boisjoly (I struggle the whole book with the pronunciation of his name, I kept forgetting it!) is an English man in his late twenties, he runs a Gentlemen’s Club but has a quite special gift, that is: solve complicated things. This is why his good friend, Fiddles, ask him to come to his uncle’s castle because he was thrown by the window awfully dying, and nobody knows how, why or who did it. As the door to the study was closed from the inside. Could Anty really help here?

The book has the right length so, it’s not too short neither too long. I genuinely liked the plot, and it has some amazing plot twist, that honestly, I didn’t expect! So even though the main plot is just one mystery, the story it’s constantly refreshing and never boring!

At first, the names and who was who was a bit confusing, but once you’re inside the story you get it all. The same name dynamic reminds me a little to a One Hundred Years of Solitude. That family is crazy is pretty much the same name over and over. But I like it when it has this complexity it adds another taste to the story.

I loved the characters they were all different with their own drama and history. I loved Anty, he’s so fun and witty. Sometimes he was on the verge of being a tad annoying but never crossed that line.
I really like the writing style, quite fun, dynamic and engaging. It kept your curiosity alive!

If you like fun light-hearted mystery this is definitely your book! I loved it and give it 5 stars. You go and grab a copy and get ready because is the first in a series that is about to be published. As for me, I can’t wait to read the next Anty’s mystery!

Tell me, would you like to read this book? Do you have any mystery book recommendations? I’d loooove to read more books like this.

love, Lin.
