The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce

Rating: 5 out of 5.

How can I even start with this review? I have so many feelings. First of all, I must say that Jessica Joyce is quickly becoming one of my favourite rom-com authors. I enjoyed her debut novel last year and I was excitedly waiting for her second one. The Ex Vows was one of my most anticipated releases of 2024 and it met and surpassed my expectations.

Jessica’s writing is so captivating. She knows perfectly well how to mix romance, banter, angst, heart-ripping situations, wholesome friendships and real-life moments.

As someone in her late twenties, I relate to Georgia, our FMC, in so many ways. I was touched by so many of the situations and feelings she experienced. I loved the growth she had throughout the book so much. And I loved how fiercely she protects and loves those who are important to her. There were times though, were I just wanted to scream at her ‘Oh c’mon Georgia! just love him’ but I understand our girl’s apprehension.

Eli, our MMC, was perfect. I loved him. The way he loves Georgia is the kind of love you want to be loved. His love is steadfast, constant, and determined. I loved Eli’s growth and change SO much. And how vulnerable but strong he was with his struggles with anxiety.

Their story was so beautiful and poignant. So perfect because of their imperfectness. So angsty and heart-wrenching but wholesome, funny and moving.

When I finished this book, I wanted to start it all over again immediately, and it made me want to cry so many times, especially by the end.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Did you already read this book? If not, what are you waiting for?!

love, Lin
