If you like regency romance and/or fake dating trope, jump in girl ’cause this book is for you!

Today I bring you a delightful historical romance that you MUST read. I haven’t read the genre in a while, and this book made me fall in love with it all over again. It was such a lovely, fun, lighthearted, sweet story. I read it in just a couple of hours and I only wish there was more of it.

But, what is it about?

Much to her mother’s dismay, spirited Anne Fletcher spent her youth seeking her father’s approval by hunting and riding. More comfortable in breeches than ball gowns, Anne sees the freedoms she once enjoyed slowly taken from her in the name of fashioning her into an eligible young lady. When her parents try to force her into marriage, Anne makes a desperate attempt to salvage her last vestige of independence. If she is to marry, she will do so on her own terms.

Anne strikes a deal: if she cannot secure a man for herself, she will agree to marry the husband her parents approved. She soon finds herself in the last place she would ever choose—that stifling parade of etiquette, the London Season. Anne’s plan is in motion. Now all she needs is a man willing to masquerade as her fiancé. (Goodreads)

I know what you must be thinking: ugh this is the typical “I’m not like other girls” trope but let me stop you right there! It is not.

Of course, we have that trope here, but it’s written so cleverly that it doesn’t feel cliché at all. Our MC is Anne who, yes, is not like the typical girls of this period, however, she’s down-to-earth and is aware of her personality. I loved Anne. She speaks her mind but and is not annoying. I love that she is not easily intimidated, and I love that she fights whilst struggling with awful experiences.

I also loved our male MC, Thomas. He’s super fun, witted, and charming (ofc!) I loved how he understands Anna, and how he values things that Anne considers flaws in her, and how he shows her that those are actually things she should love.

I loved the banter between Anne and Thomas. I just loved their relationship. It’s so fun and lovely. Of course, all of this is because of the great writing that only invites you to keep reading, making it impossible to put down.

And please, Alene if you ever read this, you need to make this book a series! I’d love to read Charlotte’s story and Angel’s story! Or anything you decide to write!

If you like historical romance, and especially the sub-genre regency romance, then this is definitely a MUST READ! Trust me, you won’t regret it.
